Press release EU parlament group GUE/NGL

Solidarity with the “Indignados” The parliamentary group of the European Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) has launched an initiative to show solidarity with the “Indignados” movement – a collective of people from across Europe, arriving in Brussels from October 8, 2011. In three official letters addressed to the Mayor of the Commune of Koekelberg, the Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region and Freddy Thielemans, Mayor of the Commune of Brussels, MEPs call on the authorities to provide the “Indignados” with hospitality and show a spirit of open-mindedness worthy of the capital of the European Union. The letters were later signed by a number of MEPs from the Green and Socialist groups. The “Indignados” movement will hold meetings and public events in Brussels to discuss current challenges for Europe, both social and political, and to have the voices of citizens heard by the institutions of the European Union. The organizers are expecting thousands of people.
